We’re excited to announce an enhanced user experience for customizing MySailPoint!
We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to make it easier for our internal teams to craft and deploy widgets that help you to understand and manage your Identity program more efficiently. This enhancement allows you to more easily find the widgets and action tiles that are relevant for your work and lays the groundwork for some other exciting updates that are coming soon.
Problem
As MySailPoint continues to evolve with new widgets and features, the current layout can become harder to navigate. Without options to sort or filter, locating specific widgets takes more effort—especially as the number of available widgets continues to grow.
Solution
We’ve updated the “Customize” overlay to show you what is on your current dashboard, as well as any widgets and tiles that are available to be added to your dashboard.
You’ll now see each item listed as a card with its title, type, description, and product. You can search by title, as well as filter by widget or tile.
Is there anything on the roadmap to allow us to administratively set a default layout for users in our environment? Folks who are only popping into ISC for Certifications, for example, wouldn’t know how or why to modify their dashboard, but if we know that’s what the majority of users are going to be doing, it would be great to set a default dashboard for them that they can then further customize if they so choose.
In November 2023 I reached out to you on the name “MySailPoint” causing confusion, especially when using branding (they might ask why “MySailPoint” and not “MyRocketStation” or “MyBusStop”). At that point it got renamed to Home and it looked great and was then intuitive again for our end users, but I see the term is back again. If the goal to elimininate confusion for those tenants who abstract SailPoint from their tenant is still a valid goal, can you please restore this ones again?
This is absolutely on the roadmap and is in active development now. We’re targeting releasing this, alongside some other functionality, around Navigate.
Did this end up getting released? I’m looking for some documentation on this as I am looking to implement a similar use case as Mark was looking it, but can’t seem to find anything.
It has not been released yet. We’ll have an announcement going out next week that in the short-term (December), we’ll be auto hiding most of the action tiles and only showing those that would apply to all users. You can still add them back in, but that should remove a lot of the confusion for end-users seeing tiles that don’t apply to them.
We’re also working on adding AMS rights to all action tiles and widgets so you could assign them to specific user levels. This last one we are targeting releasing early in Q1 of next year.
With Custom Dashboards, you’re able to add any custom charts that you create in AIC as widgets, though that is dependent on the data currently in AIC. We are also working on a number of different ways to create your own custom widgets. I don’t have a timeline to share just yet, but this is a priority for us.
Thanks for this new feature! However, our end-users (not only IT guys) were a bit confused by the release of this new feature after the release because they didn’t find the usual dashboards and they come back to us.
May i suggest to develop end-user UX/UI communication like user model/announcement banner to save time for each company’s IAM team and their end-users.
