NERM manager approval

Hello,

Is there a possibility in NERM for the approval to be processed by the manager of the user being created? I was considering a solution to create a managerTest attribute and pass its value via API, then use this attribute as the approver in the Approval Form. This value will be searched based on provided user department attribute. Is this solution possible to implement?
