In SailPoint IdentityIQ (IIQ) version 8.3P2, the email settings are configured to redirect to a file using a specified file path on the server. However, emails related to approvals or work items are not being written to the file as expected.

is your question reference to the email templates which are used while sending the email notification for the end users then you to define the template and use them in the Workflow.

Is it working when you just switch to actually sending an email?
Can you see the audit record of the emails being sent?
I found that very often the issue is that email is not being sent at all rather then issue with email configuration.
Test with functionality you are sure the email sending is working.
