Desktop Password Reset (DPR)

Which IIQ version are you inquiring about?

8.3

Hi,

I hope you’re doing well.

We´re currently planning to implement a Desktop Password Reset (DPR) solution on our workstations, so that users can reset their passwords directly from the login screen, without needing to contact the helpdesk.

We are using SailPoint IdentityIQ, which is already integrated with Active Directory and functioning correctly.

I have a few questions regarding this setup:

  1. Desktop Password Reset (DPR) Component

    • Is the DPR component something that can be downloaded and installed independently?

    • Or does it need to be provided by the support/vendor team?

  2. Password Management Module

    • Is the Password Management functionality a separate module in IdentityIQ?

    • Or is it already included as part of the LCM (Lifecycle Manager) license?

  3. Client-Side Requirements (Workstations)

    • What exactly needs to be installed or configured on the user machines to enable password reset from the Windows login screen?

    • Is there any specific agent or software package that needs to be deployed in addition to the DPR?

    • Are there any prerequisites or dependencies we should be aware of?

  4. General Guidance

    • Could you provide an overview of the components required to make this solution work end-to-end (DPR + IdentityIQ + AD)?

Any guidance or documentation you can share would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

hi @Nureen_Govan

DPR Component

  • Desktop Password Reset is not something you download independently.

  • It’s a separate SailPoint component and typically needs to be obtained via SailPoint Support / Vendor as part of the Password Management setup.

Password Management Module

  • Password Management is a licensed module, separate from core LCM.

  • LCM alone does not include DPR or password reset from the Windows login screen.

Client‑Side (Workstations)

  • Yes, a DPR client/agent must be installed on user workstations.

  • This client integrates with the Windows logon screen and communicates with IIQ.

  • Prerequisites usually include:

    • Network connectivity to IIQ/DPR services

    • Proper certificates (TLS/HTTPS)

    • AD integration already in place (which you have)

High‑level flow User (Windows login) → DPR client → IdentityIQ Password Mgmt → Active Directory

:white_check_mark: Recommendation: engage SailPoint Support or your SailPoint account team to confirm licensing and get the correct DPR installer and documentation for your IIQ version.

Hope this helps clarify things!
