Background
Data Access Security leverages its insights into data assets to inform governance processes and access management routines automated and performed by SailPoint’s Identity Security Cloud. Data Access Security can provide stakeholders with rich and broad context about identities’ access to sensitive data assets, including the level of access, the type and sensitivity of data, the level of risk involved in such access, and more. To do so, Data Access Security relies on having data classification results to catalog and label the data based on data categories, sensitivity level, resource path and other information.
Business Problem
Many organizations have already gone through data classification efforts and have some or most of their data already cataloged. Incorporating that information in their governance processes could help provide important insights which can expedite and inform governance decisions. While Data Access Security has native Data Classification capabilities, the ability to take advantage of existing data cataloging and labeling, as well as leverage the effort already made, will enable organizations to gain richer governance insights in Data Access Security and Identity Security Cloud - without the need to spend more time and effort in reclassifying the data.
How You Can Help
We are looking to introduce new capabilities that will enable Data Access Security to natively incorporate classification and data cataloging information coming from external tools and 3rd-party classification vendors gaining tighter integration with our eco-system and immediate benefits to customer already invested in Classification efforts. We are continuing to validate our understanding of the problem space and solution, and are conducting research to gather feedback and to better understand the needs to ensure we address most common use-cases
