Virtual Appliance Updates

Hello guys,

Do you know any way to control updates within the Virtual Appliance? Some way to schedule these updates by time.

Software updates, OS updates, etc.

I ask this because when the VA performs an update, it restarts and this stops the aggregations that were in progress. Do you have this type of problem?

Hello Matheus,
There is no way to control VA updates since SailPoint manages the VA update. As per your comment, I believe you have only one VA in the VA cluster. To avoid this issue, you need to add another VA in your cluster which is also recommended by SailPoint.
So you must have minimum 2 VAs in your VA cluster and it will ensure the full availability and will not interrupt any of your source activities during VA update.

This is not the case. The cluster has 3 VAs. If an aggregation is occurring on a VA that is being updated, the VA will be restarted and the aggregation will fail.

As far as I know, the VA will not get rebooted when the request is in progress in the specific VA. If it is a new request and it should routed to other VAs by default. You need to do multiple things like monitor VA health status, source connectivity during aggregation and also make sure the infra has the continuous connectivity to the source. Follow the VA troubleshooting guide to check the connectivity.

Can you post the error what you are getting? This may help to look into the issue more specific.

We also have seen instances where an aggregation would fail after an VA update was pushed by SailPoint.

Then you may need to raise a support ticket to SailPoint, I’m not seeing any other way to resolve it. If you do so, please let me know what the response you got.
