Unclear level of anonymity in SailPoint Ideas portal

Hi all,

In the ideas portal, one could submit ideas, vote for ideas and react to existing ideas. As an end user (partner/customer), one would not see the names of the other partners/customers. Everyone would show up as “Guest”.

It can occur that SailPoint Product Managers respond to an existing idea a couple of years later. They are labeled as Admins and their names are visible to everyone. The admins can also see the name of the creator of the idea and the names of those who have replied to the idea. This means that there is a partial anonymity on this platform. The identity of the end users are hidden from other end users.

However, I have seen multiple times that Product Managers (the admins) were unaware of this and whenever they replied to a comment, they would address the end user(s) by name, which are then visible by all end users.

This creates a false sense of anonymity and I think that this should be solved.
I would like to suggest to change this in either one of these ways, in no preferred order:

  • Allow all end users to see the names of all other end users. At least the end users will then know that they are not anonymous to other end users.
  • Hide the names for the admins as well, such that they are not accidentally referring to them.
  • Before making a SailPoint employee Admin, ensure they are aware of this design and ask them not to respond to posts using the names of the end users.

Kind regards,
Angelo

P.S. I couldn’t find a tag like ideas or ideas portal or something like that and since I had to choose at least one tag, I chose the closest related one. Feel free to change the tag if there is a more suitable one.

Hey Angelo, as usual thanks for this incredibly well-written feedback! I’ve taken this directly to the Product Management team myself. Let me see what I can find out, and I’ll come back with a discussion
