Desktop Password Reset for Windows now supports multiple Chromium web browser engines via Chromium Embedded Framework files. This evolution means you can update the Chromium engine without uninstalling or reinstalling DPR—saving IT time and reducing user disruption.
What is the Problem?
DPR was built on the Chromium engine to align with our Angular UI, replacing the older Internet Explorer engine. Frequent Chromium updates force SailPoint to push a new DPR client roughly every quarter.
What is the Solution?
- Flexible, engine-updating DPR: DPR 21.0.0 introduces support for Chromium engine updates through CEF files. You can update the Chromium component without touching the DPR installation itself.
- Seamless updates: CEF patches can be applied via DPR configurator, with pre-checks, to ensure no breaking changes are introduced to DPR.
- Safe rollback if issues arise: If a CEF patch causes problems, use the DPR Configurator to download and install a compatible CEF version that works with DPR, minimizing user impact.
- Clear guidance: The updated DPR guide now includes step-by-step instructions to download both the latest and specific CEF files.
