Identity Display Sequence in SailPoint IIQ Identity Warehouse

Hi Team,

I’m observing an issue related to the identity listing order in the Identity Warehouse in SailPoint IdentityIQ.

For example, we have two identities:

  • ishita

  • p_ishita

However, in the Identity Warehouse view, the user p_ishita appears before ishita, even though alphabetically we would expect ishita to come first.

Could you please help me understand:

  1. What determines the sequence or sorting order of identities displayed in the Identity Warehouse?

  2. Is there a default sorting mechanism (e.g., lexicographical, creation timestamp, or identity name order)?

  3. Can we customize or configure this order — for instance, to always display identities alphabetically or by creation date?

  4. If this behavior depends on the Identity Selector / Identity Search configuration, could you please suggest the best approach to modify it?

Any guidance or documentation reference would be appreciated.

In SailPoint IIQ the default sort order is determined by the displayName (or sometimes the internal name attribute) — lexicographically (dictionary order), but case-sensitive and symbol-sensitive. In lexicographical sorting, special characters and prefixes (like underscores or “p_”) have a higher sort order than plain letters.
