this depends on how you trigger your leaver process. normally, the Time Machine is mainly used to test workitem notification/escalation/expiration.

As @mike818148 mentioned, the Time Machine is intended for testing of certifications and work items. Depending on the needs of your specific use-case, you could trigger the workflow immediately (like a normal lifecycle event) and have a wait loop that checks for a condition to be true before it proceeds to disabling/deprovisioning, or you could create a Request object containing the desired actions with future-dated start.
