Good Afternoon Community
I have a doubt about if it exist a command in IIQ console to see wich “EmailTemplates” are currently in use, in IIQ has many “Emailtemplate” or exist another way to see wich EmailTemplate are in current use?
Greeting’s
Hi @BrianJ No OOTB way to do this in command or in the UI. Guess you need to write a rule or query for it.
Hello Brian. There is no OOTB console command that shows only the EmailTemplates currently in use. You can list all templates with:
list EmailTemplate
For usage, search the template name in the places where IIQ associates templates, such as System Configuration, certification settings, workflows, reports, and custom Rules. For example:
get Configuration SystemConfiguration
export -clean workflows.xml Workflow
Then search the XML for the template name. SailPoint also documents the standard template association locations here: Associating Templates with Events.
If custom Rule/BeanShell code selects the template dynamically, a static search may not find it, so no match does not always mean the template is unused.
Hi @BrianJ ,
There is no straightforward, out-of-the-box command available in the IIQ console, such as “show emailtemplates in use,” that allows users to easily view which EmailTemplate objects are currently active or associated with workflows. In IdentityIQ, it is important to note that an EmailTemplate is not inherently marked as “active” or “in-use.” Instead, its status is determined dynamically as it is referenced across various workflows, system configurations, lifecycle events, and rules. This dynamic referencing can make it challenging to ascertain the active status of EmailTemplate objects without a dedicated command or tool to facilitate this process.
@BrianJ One way is you scan all your artefacts, that’ll tell you email templates which are configured in other objects and ptentially be in used.
Other approach is you introduce a custom class that implements the sailpoint.api.EmailNotifier and configure it in system configuration:
<entry key="emailNotifierClass" value="sailpoint.example.CustomNotifierClass"/>
So idea is all email going out from IIQ will go via this notifier class and you log what all email templates are in place. You can observe it for few days, to decide what all are in use.
