Deprecation: SharePoint Online Connector Add-In Retirement of Client Credential, Refresh Token and SAML Bearer Assertion Grant Types

Description

As per Microsoft’s announcement, SharePoint Add-Ins will stop working for new tenants as of November 1st, 2024 and they will stop working for existing tenants and will be fully retired as of April 2nd, 2026. This applies to all the environments. For more information, refer to SharePoint Add-In retirement in Microsoft 365.

To be aligned with Microsoft, we are deprecating the Client Credential, Refresh Token and SAML Bearer Assertion Grant Types of OAuth 2.0 authentication support. Connector will continue to work for other authentication types till the Microsoft supports it for existing applications but for business continuity, please use JWT Certificate Credentials Grant Type.

Action Required

  • If you are using Client Credential, Refresh Token and SAML Bearer Assertion Grant Types, then please configure your source with JWT Certificate Credentials Grant Type for business continuity.

Note: It is applicable for both VA based and SaaS sources of SharePoint Online Connector.
