We have requirement to make comment as a mandatory field for an approver when approving the requested item which is part of SOD Policy(entitlement). As per my understanding we cannot make comments mandatory from UI. Is there any alternative way using which we can make comment as a mandatory field for an approver when approving the request?

Based on my understanding too, you’re correct… currently, the ISC UI doesn’t have the option to make the “Comment” field mandatory during approval.
However, there is a possible workaround you can consider:
If you’re using the new Workflow, you can insert a script block after the approval step to validate whether a comment was entered. If not, you can reject the approval or redirect it with a custom message.
Also, it’s worth reaching out to your SailPoint Customer Success Manager — maybe they could give you an option/workaround as well.
And definitely submit this to the SailPoint Ideas Portal. Since enforcing mandatory comments on the UI is a fairly common governance requirement (especially for SoD exceptions), it’s worth submitting or upvoting this feature for future support.
