New Capability: Data Access Security (DAS) for DataBricks

The new connector for Databricks within Data Access Security (DAS) enables organizations to discover Databricks resources, perform permission analysis, and run data classification.

This allows enterprises to govern and manage Databricks data access using the same SailPoint governance frameworks that control applications, infrastructure, and critical data across various file storage systems.

By connecting Data Access Security to Databricks deployments, enterprises can manage Databricks access alongside other applications and file systems for a consistent governance approach across SailPoint platform.

Problem

Data lakes and lakehouse platforms like Databricks help organizations leverage data to boost productivity, efficiency, and innovation. They provide a centralized data repository and frameworks to apply large language models (LLM) and AI agents to extract insights and guide business decisions. As Databricks and similar cloud data platforms grow, protecting and governing critical data access becomes more complex. Customers want to ensure that their sensitive data is fully protected and monitored.

Solution

By connecting Databricks into SailPoint Data Access Security, customers can view their critical resources within Databricks including Tables, Views, Stored Procedures etc. and detect over-permissioned accounts so that it can contain entitlement sprawl and limit data exposure. DAS also ingest data classification directly from Databricks if it is enabled there.
