Integrating SailPoint with Generic Flat File

Revised Date: 31 May 2024

This document is designed to give specific information about the requirements and field definitions needed to get a working instance of a Generic Flat File source in IdentityNow. This is an integration between a Flat File source and IdentityNow that reads data from a file. The file contains all the relevant information about the accounts.

This is the companion discussion topic for the documentation at https://documentation.sailpoint.com/connectors/flat_file/help/integrating_flat_file/introduction.html

It would be helpful to explain why this “Generic Flat File” connector (still) exists, and what is the benefit of using this instead of the “Delimited File”, which is also a “Flat File”.

It is clear that this is not obvious: Delimited File vs Generic Flat File

As a non-native English speaker, I thought that “Generic” would allow me some flexibility, but it seems that is not the case.

Maybe it would be helpful to add a short sentence in the UI to make it clear that this is very rigid and the “Delimited File” should be preferred.

Hi Andrei! Thank you for your input. We’ve created a Jira issue to track the effort and we’ll update the comment thread when it’s been addressed: CONDOCS-5225
