Email Reminder Frequency

Hi all,

Is there a way we can know where to customize the email (reminder) frequency?

I have a case where AD password policy has reminder to be sent 14 days prior to expiry which by default seems to be daily reminders. However, End user reported that they received an influx of reminder notification EVERY MINUTE as shown below:

Any workaround with such issue?

I think it may be a setting that got misconfigured. Per the advice for Setting a Password Expiration for a Policy:

Set the Reminder Starting to the number of days prior to expiration to begin sending an email/SMS to users impacted by the policy. A reminder is sent each day within that time until the user resets their password

Since the stated behavior is different than what you are seeing, I would register a Support ticket. The only caveat is: are these all for the same Source? Multiple sources are the only explanation I can think up for such a view in an email client besides a problem.

Good luck!

Yes. These email reminders are for the same source. I did follow the documentation stating " Set the Reminder Starting to the number of days prior to expiration to begin sending an email/SMS to users impacted by the policy. A reminder is sent each day within that time until the user resets their password" but encountered weird behavior.

Thank you for advice, Vipin. I ll log a Support Ticket.

Every minute is wild. Let me know how it goes. I’m curious as to what happened.

Sure thing. Thank you again.

Hi Vipinjeet,

We are let known of the rare occurrence of the issue by the SailPoint Support due to following reasons:

“SailPoint Engineering team determined that this is a rare occurrence caused from kafka rebalancing errors which causes our service to ingest duplicate events, which in turn makes Hermes send duplicate emails. Engineering is working internally on adding a feature to resolve this moving forward.”

Hi Robin,

On verbiage alone, that is a hilarious statement. “We are in a kafkaesque situation resulting in the messenger/trickster god being tricked.”

But on a technical level, thanks for filling me in and updating the thread. It’s good to get the ultimate answer to such issues documented for the curious in the future.

Sincerely, Vip
