Whitelisting for an IP Range

Hello Sailors,

I need to onboard an API application and I have received IP range for that application.

We can open firewall from our VA to the IP range, but the challenge is adding the same IP range in hosts file. What is the approach you have taken for this kind of requirement.

Question : if you open firewall from your VA for those IP range, why do you need to add this IP range into the hosts file ?

Or those IP range must be matched with a particular DNS name that are not resolved at your DNS Server level ?

In most of my usecases, once the ip and port are opened, if there are any DNS name associated to the application, that is resolved at customer DNS Server configured on VA.
