Have you compared the OOTB properties file from 8.5 with the one you are using for 8.4p2? And just to double check, you´ve also added the 8.5 jar into the build folder?
Based on the error message after you issued the ./iiq upgrade command, there is a patch that is part of the war file. I see that you don’t have any patches defined in the data you shared with us, but did you save that file before you executed the build?
I’ve done it where I made the change but didn’t save the file so my build was based on what was still there.
The most common problem I see with upgrades is attempting to overlay the file system. The contents of the webapps/identityiq folder (or other depending on your naming standard) need to be completely deleted before exploding your built war file into that folder. Another common issue is forgetting to run the database upgrade script before running the iiq upgrade command. IF you are building on the server you can use these commands to delete and install the new file system:
build clean main cleanWeb dist
which will delete the file system and install the new one. Then you can run the database upgrade script, followed by the iiq upgrade command (you don’t run the upgrade from the console)
It does look like there is an issue with your iiq.properties file. If you are building with SSB, you should have your old copy of the file from before… I always recommend merging the OOTB iiq.properties file from the new version into your existing file; there sometimes are differences. This was especially true patching from 8.4, 8.4p1 to any higher version, since the 8.4 and 8.4p1 OOTB iiq.properties file contains references to the message queue, which are not required on the higher versions. I remove those lines.
I use BeyondCompare to compare and merge files, I find it better than other tools at finding differences and mistakes.
I would recommend doing the same with the OOTB log4j.properties file. Merge, just don’t assume they are the same.
That error looks like there is a leftover patch file in the file system; be sure to purge first.
IF for some reason you are trying to use JBoss or WebSphere, there’s a whole different set of rules. Contact Expert Services for those.
@Kvis2413 Have you tried upgrading the vanilla version and compared the steps with your customized iiq upgrade? Possibly you have mixed patch upgrade steps and version upgrade?
