Update account attribute only in Sailpoint

Which IIQ version are you inquiring about?

We have created a extended link attribute to store account type value which we will populate manually but whenever we update this attribute it triggers LCM Identity Update approval workflow and it tries to update this value to target application.
How can we prevent this update for specific attribute ?
