New Capability: Limited Availability of VA Customer-Provided Operating Systems (CPOS)

Description

:bangbang: This feature allows customers to deploy virtual appliances on systems that have been preinstalled with their own operating system. This enables them to take on ownership and management of the operating system, along with the ability to install their own security toolchain.

New Capabilities

Customers can now install 3rd party applications on Customer Provided Operating System (CPOS) Virtual Appliances (VAs) when they deploy the VA with their own operating system.

The following operating systems have been validated to support the operation of SailPoint applications:

  • Ubuntu: 22.04 LTS and 24.04 LTS
  • RedHat Enterprise Linux / CentOS / Rocky Linux: 8.x and 9.x
  • Amazon Linux: AL2 and AL2023

Problem

Some organizations have security standards and protocols that require their infrastructure be monitored and controlled with their own security toolchain. With the broad array of possible standards and requirements, it is not feasible to support all the possibilities within a fully managed SailPoint virtual appliance.

Solution

Customers can provision a server with their own operating system afterwards with which they can also install the SailPoint virtual appliance applications, along with third-party applications that they require.

Who is affected?

Customers who have their own security toolchain to be installed on Virtual Appliances and have capacity to manage their own operating system are typically eligible for this feature.

If your organization has security and compliance policies that necessitate installing your own security toolchain, please contact your CSM to establish eligibility to activate this feature.
