ISC - Coexistence of IIQ and IdentityNow IQService on the same Windows Server 2019 during migration

Hi developer community,

We are in the process of migrating from IdentityIQ (IIQ) to Identity Security Cloud (ISC / IdentityNow), and I have a question regarding the setup of IQService for the Active Directory connector.

Currently, our IIQ instance uses an IQService installed on a dedicated Windows Server 2019 machine. During the migration, we would like to install and configure the IQService for IdentityNow on the same server, to allow coexistence of both services temporarily.

Is it technically possible and supported to run both the IIQ and IdentityNow IQService on the same Windows Server 2019 machine, during the transition?

Our goal is to avoid provisioning a new dedicated Windows Server, and to decommission the IIQ IQService once the IdentityNow configuration is fully operational.

Additionally, is this coexistence approach considered a best practice , or should it be avoided due to possible conflicts or limitations — in which case a new dedicated server would be strictly required?

Thanks in advance for any guidance or recommendations.

Kind regards,
Paolo

IIQ and ISC use the same IQ Service binaries (as far as I’m aware), so IQ Service should be usable by both products.

With the IQ Service binaries, you are able to setup more then one instance of the server, running on a different port, using a different password. So there is no technical issue I see that would prevent you from doing just that.

The only reason you might not want to run IQ services for both on the same machine is in case of any issues. If your windows server breaks down, you have a larger issue if both are running on that same server.

Besides that last point, I see no issues.
