Enhancement: Modernized Navigation Bar Experience for ISC and DAS

I really think the new menu bar is a much needed refresh from the old. It’s definitely better to use and identify quickly where things are without having to load multiple pages to get to where we need to be.

In my opinion, 100% a step in the right direction.

Hi @jennifer_mitchell

Did this change also get rid of the lightbulb in the bottom right?

I gladly do not see it now in non-prod.

If so, this is a very welcome change

I still see it @jrossicare, while I am also seeing the new navbar changes.

I am a bit conflicted on this change. On one hand I am happy that the branding colours are being used more and I think that the dropdown icon to perform commonly made actions is a plus. On the other hand I have trouble finding the right option in the megamenu. Not sure yet if this is just muscle memory that needs updating and will get better over time, or if this actually stays more chaotic.

On another note, are the workflow page updates also part of this release?

I do notice here it takes more time now to filter on enabled/disabled (and to remove the filter later). Can we have those filters on the page itself similar to how the status filters are arranged in the workflow executions tab?

I do really like the dedicated workflow executions tab, making it easier to find failed executions, where before we had to go over all workflows one by one.

Hi @jennifer_mitchell,

It’s a good feature to have. But instead of having it “click” operation on Admin option, if we have something “hover” and navigate those menus it would be great.
Also, the + icon after that, the options listed there are pre-defined. Can we have a feature to modify to our needs.? instead of default ones currently displaying.?

Hi @angelo_mekenkamp - that is a separate effort.

Thanks for your input Balaji - we can consider these as future enhancements to the functionality.

Do you have the link to the announcement of the workflow UI change @jennifer_mitchell? Or will this update soon be announced? The changes are already in our sandbox (as far as I know it occurred together with your updates), but I can’t find the separate announcement off it, which led to me thinking it must be part of this announcement.

That is coming. We are working on moving that to be anchored in the header bar, but it’s a multi-step process with some technical complexity involved.

Hi @angelo_mekenkamp , The Workflows UI change will be separate from the navigation modernization and we will publish the announcement as we prepare to launch. In the meantime, I’m looking to hear feedback around the update so feel free to find time on my calendar: Calendly

Update:

I know there has been some enthusiasm around the anticipated “up next” enhancement of making our takeover pages leave the main menu and top color bar showing at all times. I wanted to let you know that this work is underway. Rather than holding them all until we have every takeover page adjusted, we’re going to roll them out as they get updated. You should start seeing the first changes in the next week or so.

Release notes will accompany these changes, so you’ll be alerted to what got done as this work proceeds. Expect those changes to roll out over the next couple of months.

I will chime in while we wait for the UX to improve. There is an experimental feature in both Edge & Chrome that forces all sites to load dark mode (saving us all the eye strain from poor UX designs)

You can set these to Enabled and reboot the respective application.

Edge

Chrome
