We have improved the user experience for admins by updating the Admin Tasks page!
We have enhanced the Admin Tasks page by modernizing the UI and adding new features, allowing admins to better manage the tasks in their environment. These updates also ensure stronger compliance with accessibility standards.
These new features include:
You are now able to see Account, Task ID, and Source columns.
You can filter the task list by Owner.
Admins are now able to reassign a task to another user.
Admins are now able to complete a task on behalf of another user.
Clicking on the name of a task shows additional task data.
The UI transformation is impressive - going from that basic list view to a fully-featured task management system makes a huge difference for day-to-day operations.
What I love about these improvements:
The expanded column view is a game-changer. Having Account, Task ID, and Source visible at a glance eliminates so much back-and-forth navigation.
The filtering by Owner feature is going to save tons of time, especially in larger environments where tasks are distributed across multiple admins. And the ability to reassign tasks and complete on behalf of users addresses real pain points.
The modern UI is clean and much easier to scan through.
Looking forward to using this in production! Thanks for championing this enhancement. Any plans for additional filtering options (by task type, date range, etc.) in future iterations?
We can certainly look at it! This was a bit of an opportunistic set of feature adds, as we needed to update the code base to the more modern design framework we’re using. Glad you like it.
In terms of other feature adds/functionality/filtering, I’d recommend opening an Idea in the idea portal to help us track those ideas.
This is a huge improvement Aaron. Thank you to you and your team!
I agree with Amar’s sentiment, anything that allows us to parse through what may be thousands of entries to find what we’re looking for based on any of the indexable qualities of the task is exceedingly helpful to day-to-day work.
This is great , It would be much better if the capability is added too like some admin can do only reassignment to only up the chain and some can do approve on behalf
I would look for these problems to be solved by Identity Segmentation (limiting who the non-org-admin can see in the ID dropdowns) and Custom User Levels (building a user level using the right sets of this page to let some users have read only access and limit the approve on behalf of functionality)
My next wish would be the ability to have manual tasks be assigned to a Governance Group (this is one reason our customers look at different tools to manage manual tasks rather than using SailPoint functionality).
