Best Practice for Automating Manager Reassignment for Contractors of Terminated Managers

Business Scenario:

We manage a significant number of contractors within ISC. When a manager of these contractors is terminated or goes on a long-term leave of absence, their user account’s Lifecycle State is updated accordingly and user gets an email notification about the Manager’s termination, In email will mention that Contractor has to request to update their leader by provided link in Email . We need to ensure that the contractors who reported to this manager are automatically reassigned to the manager’s manager (i.e., the “grandparent” manager).

Goal:

Our objective is to move from our current manual, email-driven process to a fully automated workflow. This workflow should trigger upon a manager’s termination, identify all their direct contractor reports, and automatically update the manager attribute of each contractor to the terminated manager’s manager (i.e., the “grandparent” manager), with no manual intervention required.

Please consider addressing the following when creating your topic:

  • What have you tried?
  • What errors did you face (share screenshots)?
  • Share the details of your efforts (code / search query, workflow json etc.)?
  • What is the result you are getting and what were you expecting?

What type of source you have for contractors?

You wouldn’t be able to do this using the manager corelation facility on the source.
You could create a transform that checks if the user’s manager’s LCS and returns their ID if they are active, or returns the manager’s manager ID if false.

However, this really sounds like it requries an HR solution rather than an IAM one

Source type is Webservices and its a Authorative source

Would you like to update the manager reference in the end system or just the manager correlation in ISC?
