autoApprovalEnabled=true not working for role access requests

In the ‘Preventing Self-Approval → Automatic Approval’ section, it is unclear that even with autoApprovalEnabled set to true, if the role owner requests the role for themselves their manager is still required to approve. The line “enable automatic approval when the configured reviewer is the requester identity” seems disingenuous, then.

Thanks for pointing this out, Dominick! I’ve created SAASDOCS-8792 to investigate this further.

In the meantime, can you please verify the approval process of the role (or roles) in question? For example, is the only approver in the review process the role owner?

Thank you!

Hey Rebekah,

Thank you for your timely response!

In this scenario, I am referencing the situation where a Role is configured for access requests and requires approval from the Role Owner. If the Role Owner requests the Role they own for themselves, SailPoint will still require approval from the Role Owner’s manager. In the documentation, it is unclear if this is expected or if we should expect the Role Owner to be able to auto-approve self-requests when autoApprovalEnabled is set to true.

Thanks for your quick reply, Dominick  I’ve spoken with the developer, and this is a bug. I’ve moved your comment to the Bugs category for greater help from the community, and I encourage you to reach out to our support team to for more information.

Thank you!

Great, thank you for this update. Was the developer able to give an ETA on when the community could expect to see this bug resolved?

Thanks!
Dominick

No, they didn’t. If you’d like to check in with the support team on this bug, you can ask about ISCARP-15785, but we just created the ticket today so it won’t have any updates yet. Thank you!
