Re route workflow forms

I am working on a workflow to deal with Stale accounts. As part of the workflow I want to present a form to an approve to confirm that the account should be made stale; AD disabled. I am building this in Sandbox and evidently choose the wrong test user to get the form. Note that all emails from Sandbox go to me so I did get the email with the form link. However when I click the link I get an error message that says that " * current identity not allowed to do this operation". I am assuming that’s because I choose the wrong test version of me.

I believe i have fixed the workflow so the next test will come to me however I am would still like to “fix” the routing on the running workflows. I am also thinking forward to the approver being out in the future or just not responding quick enough. I did go into the “wrong” user and set work reassignment rules for access requests, certifications, and tasks but that doesn’t seem to have helped.

Is there a way to re route the form for running workflows?

Is the work reassignment the “right” way to fix if the approval user were really going to be out for a period of time?
