Missing Identity Attributes if null?

Hi, we’re relatively new to using IdentityNow and we’re confused about a behavior we’re noticing. We’re seeing that many of our identity records appear to be missing attributes that we’ve listed in our identity profile IF those attributes are null in the authoritative source. For example: Middle Initial is an attribute we’ve established in the profile, but not everyone supplies a value in our HRM. In this scenario, would we expect to see a Middle Initial attribute listed but no value shown in the individual identities?

To confuse us even more, we see that some identities DO show some of the same attributes other identities are missing, but with an empty value (which match the empty value in our HRM). We are theorizing that these identities once had a value that was removed. Therefore, we believe that an attribute will only be written to the identity record if it has a value to write from the authoritative source.

Is this the expected behavior of the product? We have a support ticket to confirm, but thought we’d ask here.

Thanks!

This is correct. Identity Attributes that are null will not appear on that user’s cube. When looking at the user’s Accounts, you will see rows for every attribute in the schema, even those that are null.
