How is this different from the old certification that was sunset? I previously earned the SailPoint Certified IdentityNow Professional certification that was supposed to never expire; do I now need to pay $400 to get this new SailPoint Certified Identity Security Administrator cert?
I also had the same question thanks for raising @sup3rmark ,
I was holding identitynow professional certification with no expiration ,do I need to pay $400 again to get this new SailPoint adminstrator certificatation? What’s the status of SailPoint identitynow professional certification is it still valid ?
probably you can add the to credly as external certification using the same link from badger i did the same and it got added in credly as other certification category
I feel like this is unfair to those of us who paid for the proctored exam for the previous certification that was supposed to never expire, that we’re now expected to pay another $400 to take the new exam that looks a heck of a lot like the same thing just with a different title. You (SailPoint, obviously not you personally) effectively expired the previous cert that was supposed to never expire by sunsetting that and then replacing it with a new one.
If we’re going to maintain that these are two separate and distinct certs, I feel that those of us who paid the $400 for the prior exam (at least those of us who took it within, say, a year of it being sunset) should at least be given the opportunity to take the new exam for free, as our “never expires” certification is now essentially invalidated (sure, the badge still exists, but no hiring manager who knows SailPoint is going to see “SailPoint Certified IdentityNow Professional” and accept that as current when there’s a shiny new “SailPoint Certified Identity Security Administrator” cert available.
This feels like a bait-and-switch/cash grab to me, and as a long-time SailPoint practitioner, it’s honestly very disappointing.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We completely understand where you’re coming from, and can see why this change would feel frustrating.
I do want to clarify a few important points around the certifications. The IdentityNow Professional certification was officially sunset in February 2025, but as originally stated, it does not expire and your credential remains valid. That said, we recognize the perception challenge you mentioned as the certification portfolio evolves.
In place of the IdentityNow Professional, we introduced the Identity Security Professional knowledge credential. This is a free credential, and you’re provided two attempts at no cost once you complete the associated training path. This credential also comes with a SailPoint verified digital badge upon passing. The training itself includes new and updated content, which is why it’s not simply a rebrand of the previous exam. You can access that full path here: Identity Security Administrator
Regarding the Identity Security Administrator certification, this is not a replacement for the IdentityNow Professional exam. It’s an entirely new, role-based certification designed to validate real-world, hands-on experience. This differs significantly from the previous certification, which was more training-based in nature.
I hear your concern around the investment you made in the prior certification, and I will make sure this feedback is shared with the appropriate teams. Input like yours is important as we continue to evolve the program.
Please let us know if you have any questions about the new training path or certifications.
