Identity AI Services: Data Explore - How to create custom charts?

Hi all,

I’m looking for some documentation and examples on how to create custom charts which take different data sources, and use custom filters and visualization elements.

I was going through the documentation here and have just a few questions:

I’m trying to create some custom visuals but I’m not quite sure why I keep getting a ‘contact your administrator’ error. I wish I could provide the steps to replicate it but I have nothing at the moment. Will update the thread if I can with more info.

I’m looking for a good resource to reference when building out these custom charts and dashboards. Currently what is a little confusing to me, is what each of the different data sources are, and determining which ones do I need to reference for the use cases I have in mind, as there are tons of tables. (Example use case: Top 10 least requested roles in the last 1 year.)

Can someone help me with a “Data Explore for dummies” equivalent walkthrough on how to create custom charts and dashboards? If I can figure out how to use data sources, the query filters and measures/metrics of a chart effectively, I can take it from there (I hope!)

Please send any additional documentation or examples my way, if possible.

Hi Sushant,

If you’re running into a “contact your admin” error it’s possible you should make sure you’ve been granted the appropriate report admin user-level permissions.

@colin_mckibben Thanks for checking in! The demo video did brush at a very high level how custom dashboards can be created but it did not dwell deeper into an example or a walkthrough of the configuration options in the left pane. I was hoping to get some documentation around the specifics of each of those different sections like metrics, group by, visualization type etc. and any commonly encountered configuration errors (like the one I saw) for some quick troubleshooting.

If there is a document already present for it, please let me know. This is very interesting, and I see a lot of advantages through the Data Explore feature for clients/customers.
