End-of-year Idea Portal Submission Review

With the end of the year approaching, it is a good time to review the ideas that you have submitted to the SailPoint Ideas Portal Since the SailPoint Product team uses the votes on the forum to determine some aspects of the product road map, it is a good time to check the status, and add additional details if needed.

If you have posted an idea and are wondering why it may not be getting traction, you can create a topic in this category to discuss some of the reasons that it might not be getting traction or get help refining the details. Some common reasons for no traction are:

  • Not enough detail provided
  • Too much detail/Too specific to singular use case
  • Duplicate of an existing topic
  • Out of Scope for SailPoint Product.
  • Not easily solved at the present
  • Not all responses agree with idea

Additionally, if you would like to get feedback on an idea before submitting it, this Category is a good place to do just that. If you haven’t submitted an idea, and want to work through it with others to refine it, post it here for discussion where you can see who you are responding too (since the Ideas Portal just lists all responses that are not SailPoint employees as “Guest”, which makes dialogue difficult). This discussion can go a long way to help get an idea on the roadmap for upcoming years. When you do finally submit the idea, you can include a link back to your discussion here to provide additional details. Please make sure that you have also searched the Ideas Portal for similar ideas before creating another. If there are similar, but not exact, please include links to those and comment on why they are not the same in your posting so others know that you did research/review them. This will keep others from posting that they found a similar topic also.

Now, to find the ideas that you have submitted, you can search your email using the following phrase:

"Sailpoint Ideas Portal" "Idea received:"

This should bring up all of the ideas that you have submitted and you can then go in and review the status of each one. Please be mindful that if it is marked “Out of Scope”, it would be better to bring the discussion here, rather than replying to the topic there since the status has already been decided. Statuses of “Planned” and “Future Consideration” could have a follow up comment for an updated status IF that status was given prior to 2025, since we don’t want to spam then with more recent decisions.

Additionally, please don’t just post here asking for people to vote on your topic. That is not what this Category is for, and it waters down the responses. People will vote for the ideas that are important to them, regardless.

Please be mindful also that updating commenting and updating the ideas will cause an influx of notifications to them, and only bring the important ones up to the top so we don’t dilute those.

Lets work to make the Ideas Portal work with the Developer Community to provide well thought out ideas and actionable submissions.
