It would be really nice if I could subscribe to be notified when new topics matching a certain filter are created. For example, I am not all that interested in Identity Security Cloud CoLabs since my company is not using ISC. However, I am interested if a new IdentityIQ CoLab is created. It’s easy to search for IdentityIQ CoLabs by going to the sidebar in developer.sailpoint.com and selecting More > Filter and searching for “tag:identityiq category:colab”. It would be really cool if I could click a bell icon to subscribe to the results of such a search.
Thank you for asking about this, I think it would be a really nice feature to have! Unfortunately it doesn’t look like it’s possible at this time. Here’s Discourse’s AI bot’s response:
Currently, Discourse does not support getting notifications for new topics that match both a specific category and a specific tag out of the box. You can:
Watch an entire category to get notified for all new topics in that category.
Watch a tag to get notified for new topics with that tag, across all categories.
However, there is no built-in way to combine these—meaning you cannot set up a notification for “new topics that are both in category X and have tag Y.” This limitation is by design, as tags are intended to cut across categories, and the notification system does not support more granular intersection filters at this time.
It has been discussed on Meta, and while some users asked for this feature, core Discourse does not support it and it is not currently on the roadmap.
Let me know if you’d like guidance on setting up those category specific or tag specific notifications!
