Hi,
We are trying to install Dynatrace on the Virtual Appliances. I have below questions:
- Does SailPoint allow installing Dynatrace on the VA’s for monitoring? If so do we have any documentation regarding this?
- If not do we have any alternative options for external monitoring?
We tried installing but we were unable to install it!
Thanks in Advance!! Appreciate any inputs!!

SailPoint’s documentation and support materials instead direct customers to use the built-in monitoring features of IdentityNow or external tools via APIs, rather than installing anything on the VA itself. The IdentityNow Admin GUI provides health indicators for VAs – for example, you can configure email alerts if a VA goes down, and the Admin Dashboard and Virtual Appliance Clusters page show the status of each VA cluster with health badges for warnings/errors. This lets you see if a VA is connected, inactive, low on disk space, high on memory, etc., through SailPoint’s interface (the system will flag conditions like low storage, high memory usage, or network connectivity issues automatically . Official docs explicitly note that monitoring VA health is a customer responsibility – but to be done using these provided notifications and status pages, not by installing your own agent.
Importantly, there is no SailPoint documentation that suggests installing Dynatrace or other third-party agents on the VA – given the above restrictions, such an approach is not in any guide. Instead, SailPoint’s support guidance focuses on leveraging IdentityNow’s APIs and audit logs for external monitoring. For example, SailPoint provides a Splunk add-on to ingest IdentityNow audit events into Splunk for monitoring and alerting. (This “Identity Security Cloud AuditEvent Add-on for Splunk” is an official integration that lets you track IdentityNow events and logs in a SIEM solution.) Similarly, SailPoint’s community knowledge base covers how to monitor provisioning tasks and audit reports via the UI and API. The key takeaway from official sources is that monitoring should be done through SailPoint’s provided channels (UI, notifications, APIs) – the VA itself remains a sealed appliance that you cannot instrument with your own agents.
Cheers!!!
