Best approach to bring Workday user certifications into SailPoint for Epic project

I’m looking for some advice on the best way to handle this use case.

We currently have the Workday connector set up in SailPoint, connected to Workday HCM/HR, and it’s working well with no issues for core worker data.

As we get ready for an Epic project, management has asked us to pull all user certification data from Workday and tie those certifications to the user identity in SailPoint so they can be used for governance and access decisions.

Certification data lives in Workday Talent, not in the core HR worker attributes, so I’m trying to figure out the recommended approach in SailPoint Identity Security Cloud to ingest and model this data.

I’d appreciate guidance on:

  • Best‑practice ways others have brought Workday Talent certifications into SailPoint

  • Whether a Workday Advanced Report (RaaS) + secondary source is the right path

  • Any lessons learned or gotchas when tying certifications to identities for downstream systems like Epic

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi Kannika,

For retrieving certification data, you may want to explore with the Workday HCM/HR team whether they can extract the certification details from Talent and put them in a custom attribute in HCM/HR for your use.

This approach could help avoid the need to onboard additional sources or establish new integrations.

That is a good suggestion. I will follow up with the Workday HCM/HR team to determine whether this can be implemented. Thank you for your guidance.
