Backing Up and Restoring Identity Data in SailPoint ISC

I’m trying to determine the best method for backing up identity data in SailPoint Identity Security Cloud (ISC). I understand that Configuration Hub backups can restore configuration objects and source definitions, but they do not include identity data such as attributes, access items, or certification history.

I’ve explored several discussions on the Dev Community, but there doesn’t seem to be a definitive answer. In IdentityIQ, there are tasks specifically designed to back up identity data, but I haven’t found an equivalent in ISC.

Some users appear to be exporting identity data manually via API endpoints, but it’s unclear whether there’s a reliable method to re-upload that data in conjunction with a Configuration Hub restore to get the system back online quickly and accurately.

At the moment, we’re hesitant to proceed with certain changes due to this uncertainty. We’re hoping to find a clear, supported approach for backing up and restoring identity data in ISC to ensure business continuity and minimize risk.

Any guidance, best practices, or official documentation would be greatly appreciated!

Identity Security Cloud utilizes different types of databases for each component—such as policies, search, sources, and applications. SailPoint ISC leverages a variety of storage solutions based on specific requirements, so it’s not possible to point to a single storage technology.
