The customer has onboarded SAP Successfactors direct connector in IIQ 8.4 .
As the requirement is IIQ > Cloud Gateway > SAP Successfactors, created an IIQ Cloud Gateway(This is configured in Load balancer) and configured this as Proxy application to SAP Successfactors. We are observing an intermittent issue as “Response Information :- Status =504, Description= Unknown Error“ during account aggregation.
Also when trying to enable the partitioning in aggregation, then it fails with error message as below.
“An Error occured while attemptiing to create task Partitions for Application.java.lang.Exception:Unknown Error, SAP Successfactors”
The intermittent 504 – Gateway Timeout (Unknown Error) observed during account aggregation typically indicates a timeout occurring somewhere between IdentityIQ (IIQ), the Cloud Gateway (via the Load Balancer), and SAP SuccessFactors. Since the issue is intermittent, it is most likely related to timeout settings, performance constraints, or connection limits, rather than a permanent configuration issue.
Please review the following items to diagnose the problem:
Analyze the Catalina logs to confirm whether the same 504 error is reported or if additional details are available.
Review the Cloud Gateway logs and check for errors such as request timeouts, SocketTimeoutException, or connection pool exhaustion.
Inspect the Load Balancer configuration and logs, paying close attention to idle timeout, backend timeout, and response timeout values.
Review the aggregation execution time when it completes successfully. Verify whether any Before or After rules are calling the SuccessFactors API, as these can significantly increase aggregation duration (sometimes by several minutes or even hours).
Check for concurrency issues, such as other jobs or API-intensive processes running on the SuccessFactors side at the same time as the aggregation.
