Description
We are excited to announce enhancements to MySailPoint and Custom Dashboards: Managed Defaults, Dashboard templates (including a new Admin Overview template for all administrators), and Widget sizing for widgets built by SailPoint product teams. Admins can set an organization-wide Home baseline and start new dashboards from ready-made templates — including the admin overview experience — while new and updated widgets can display at Small, Medium, or Large for a better fit.
What You Need to Know

These enhancements are available to all Identity Security Cloud customers.

With Managed Defaults, admins draft and publish a global default Home (action tiles and widgets). Publishing applies that baseline across the tenant and overrides previous individual Home customizations.

Users can still edit Home afterward and use the full tile and widget catalog.

Widgets included in a Managed Default only appear for users who have permission to view them.

After an admin publishes a Managed Default change, users see a notification on their first Home visit that the layout was updated and prior personalizations may need to be set again.

Dashboard templates are always available; starting from a template creates a copy you can customize for your organization.

Admin Overview template: Available by default to all administrators, regardless of license. The template includes widgets based on the Admin Overview page in the admin area of Identity Security Cloud — the same capabilities, now in Custom Dashboards.

Upcoming change: The classic Admin Overview page will be deprecated in the near future (date TBD). All of that page’s functionality has been recreated in these new widgets and remains available to all admins. The existing Admin Overview page continues to work until the deprecation date is announced and completed.

Widget sizing: Widgets can now ship as Large (one per row), Medium (two per row — current default), or Small (three per row). Teams that build widgets select the size when creating new widgets; some existing widgets may be updated to a different size over time. Administrators cannot change widget sizes for templates or individual widgets — size is defined with the widget.

Your existing Homes and dashboards continue to work; nothing is removed by this release.
Problem
Many organizations want one Home layout that works for most people, but until now there was no admin-controlled global default. Irrelevant tiles confuse end users and drive support questions; temporary SailPoint-wide defaults also left managers without tiles they rely on day to day. Building Custom Dashboards from a blank page is time-consuming when you are unsure which widgets to start with, and a single fixed widget size has limited how clearly some charts and KPIs can be shown. Administrators also need the insights from the Admin Overview page in the same modern dashboard experience they use elsewhere — especially as that page moves toward a future retirement.
Solution
This release delivers:
- Managed Defaults: Admins configure and publish the global default Home so most users start from an org-approved layout, with draft-before-publish and clear SailPoint-vs-custom status.
In the Dashboard Manager, begin by expanding Templates > Home Page Templates. You’ll see templates for both Admin Overview, and Home Page.
Selecting Create Dashboard will open a preview of SailPoint’s default configurations for each. You can remove unwanted action tiles or widgets directly from the preview. To add different widgets or tiles, simply click the Edit button to search for and add new items.
Edits will not be applied until you click the Save button, at which point you’ll be prompted that saving will change the default configuration for all end-users.
You may cancel or continue. If you continue, the changes will immediately apply for everyone in your tenant. The first time a user logs in after a change has been made to a default dashboard, they will receive a message that their layout has been modified by an admin. They are still free to edit their own layout with available tiles and widgets.
Once saved, your new version of a default dashboard will appear in Managed Dashboards > Default Home Pages, where you can further edit. Deleting a managed default dashboard will revert to the SailPoint default configuration.
- Dashboard templates: Ready-made dashboards give admins a copyable jump-start by persona, industry, or information type instead of starting blank — including a new Admin Overview template available by default to all administrators (any license), with widgets that recreate the Admin Overview page experience. More templates will be added over time.
- Widget sizing: Product teams building widgets can ship Small, Medium, or Large layouts so data fits the experience. New widgets will use these sizes; some older widgets may be updated. Admins add widgets as provided — they do not resize widgets on templates or dashboards. Note* The medium size is the current default size.
Who is affected?
All Identity Security Cloud customers using MySailPoint and Custom Dashboards. All administrators receive the Admin Overview template and widgets regardless of license.
Action Recommended: Admins — review and publish Managed Defaults when you are ready to set a new Home baseline; start using the Admin Overview template now so your team is ready when the classic Admin Overview page is deprecated (date TBD). Watch for new and updated widgets at different sizes; sizing is not configurable by admins.
