I have a workflow with the trigger “ACCESS REQUEST SUBMITTED” and I have it attached as the Approval workflow for a few entitlements and roles in our environment.

It is my understanding that the workflow would execute for only when these entitlements/roles are requested. If there are other access items in the system that has a different approval setup or no approval setup - that should proceed as intended, correct? the workflow should not execute for access items it isn’t tagged to. Is that correct assumptions?

Hi @sudharanimarimuthu!

This is correct, in the [documentation](https://documentation.sailpoint.com/saas/help/workflows/workflow-triggers.html#access-request-submitted) for this trigger it states:

> An access request with an attached workflow linked in the Approval Type was submitted. The Access Request Submitted trigger will only fire if the access item is requested and the Workflow is enabled.

Hope that helps!

Hello @sudharanimarimuthu ,

Yes you are correct!!

If Workflow has been configured as Approval workflow only on specific roles /entitlements, then it will execute only requested access items. Other access request will follow their own configured approval path and will not trigger this workflow.

Thanks
